Rose Buch Obituary

Rose Lamanna Buch, 81, of Moneta, Va., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., came to the end of her full and happy life on June 14, 2010, and now sleeps awaiting the Resurrection. Rose was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on May 9, 1929, and grew up in Vineland, N.J. She was the second of five children born to the late Giovanni (John) and Josephine Pascarelli Lamanna. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Tony and Daniel Lamanna. Rose is survived by her husband of 53 years, Pierre; and her children, daughter, Michelle Buch Crosby and husband, Mark, of Collegedale, Tenn., and son, Marc Buch and wife, Paula, of Roanoke; and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Esther Nunez and husband, Edmund, of Glendale, Calif., and Gloria Williford and husband, Dr. William, of Knoxville, Tenn. Rose received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953 from Washington Adventist University, (formerly Washington Missionary College, and Columbia Union College), in Tacoma Park, Md., and accepted a call to teach at King's Way College, (formerly Oshawa Missionary College), in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada from 1953 to 1957. While teaching there, she met Pierre Buch of Alsace, France, and they were married in Vineland, N.J., on August 18, 1957. She taught at Columbia Union College from 1957 to 1960, then took time off to be a full-time wife and mother, moving to Roanoke in 1964. When her children were grown she went back to teaching and retired from National Business College, Salem campus, in 1994. She faithfully served The Roanoke Seventh-day Adventist Church as Primary Division Leader, teaching several generations of children about the love of Jesus. After retirement, she and her husband helped form the Smith Mountain Lake Seventh-day Adventist church and held various offices there as a charter member, She was also an active member of the Auxiliary of the 29th Division Association, Inc. With the assistance of Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, a private family burial was held on June 19, 2010, with Pastor Danny Poff, of the Smith Mountain Lake SDA Church officiating. A Celebration of Rose's life will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the Smith Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church on Hwy. 122 in Moneta. The family welcomes all that knew Rose to join them in remembrance of her.

It's hard to believe that such a tiny frame could contain all of that exhuberance. Aunt Rose was a wonderful woman who welcomed me into the family with open arms. She was kind and loving, and I will miss her dearly. You have my deepest sympathy.

Michelle, Marc and Pierre - Your whole family was like part of my family for so many years. I loved your Mom - she was always a bundle of energy and just fun to be around. I know it will be tough without her - but I am so glad we all have the promise of Life Eternal. It will be so joyous when we can meet her again in heaven.

My Dear Aunt Rosie was quick with her humor as she always had a twinkle in her eye and a knack for making me laugh. She loved abundantly, touched my life in a way that is ongoing. The loss is great yet I look forward to our next hug.

Rose was a REMARKABLE woman who added grace and humility to her life and those around her. I knew her from Camp Meetings and from going to school with her daughter Michelle. I know how much this family loved her and Rose will forever be imprinted in our hearts. To Michelle, Mark, and entire family...Our love and prayers follow you wherever you are. When you feel pain from your loss, try to remember the good times that made you smile. One day, we will be reunited with those who have gone before us..as God promises us this. We love you!

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. She taught me at National Business College and was a wonderful teacher and an exceptional person. She cared so much for her students and would go out of her way to make sure they understood and did well. She will be missed but God has another wonderful angel to stand w/him..

I extend my condolences to the family and all who loved Rose. All my interactions with her were positive. She loved her family with all her heart and was a very generous lady. She also had two wonderful children and that is no accident. May God bless all who mourn her.

My Dear and Precious Rosie: Always one of my favorite friends, always there to comfort or bring on a much needed laugh. One of my favorite memories was when Luther, Marc and I put carpet in their home on the lake. Rose prepared a scrumptious dinner for us and had me play the piano for the family afterwards. I so look forward to the Resurrection and seeing her again.

Michelle I never met you mother but if she was anything like you, then she was a very special lady. A daughters loss of her mother, is the loss of one of her best friends. May God bless you and your family as you go through this time of sorrow but know you will see her again someday soon in the Heaven above.

Dear Marc, Michelle and family, I am so sorry for the pain you must be feeling right now. You were blessed to have a wonderful mother, wife, grandma. I'm sure you will miss her greatly, but relish in the good times and keep those cherished memories close to your heart. Soon, Jesus will come and then you'll be reunited with no pain and no scars from this old world.
Love you all,
Tammy Charles

This happened entirely too quickly. You always told me I was your favorite son-in-law. You were always my favorite mother-in-law.

Ms. Buch was a teacher of mine at National College in 1989-1990. She was such a great lady - small in stature but big in personality! I thought so much of her and am very sorry to hear the news of her passing.

Mark, Michelle, and Pierre, I will keep you in my prayers as you adjust to the absence of your dear Mother, Rose. I will miss her presence here on Earth but will relish the fond thoughts and memories of her that I'll continue to have.

She loved her family dearly and clearly has been a positive force in your lives. Like me, I hope her memory gives you comfort.
