Sandra Brooks Obituary

Sandra Ward Brooks, 62, of Roanoke, formerly of Vinton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends after an eight month battle with cancer. She was born January 18, 1948 in Clifton Forge, Va., the daughter of the late Floyd Ward and Margaret Farrah Ward. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond M. Brooks. She enjoyed working as a RN in the resource pool at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Sandra enjoyed NASCAR, football and her loving boxer, Max. Surviving are two sons, Allan K. Malina and wife, Pam and Paul J. Malina and wife, Lillian; daughter, Marceline Goff and husband, Wesley; her grandchildren, Noah, Nathan and Caleb Malina, Andrew and Zachary Goff, Mary Gail, Morgan and Megan Brooks, Allison and Jonathan Blevins. Sandra had many family and friends that she loved, too many to list, "The Big 4". Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lotz Vinton Chapel with Father Tom Collins and the Rev. Allan Malina officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the Staff of 10 South for everything. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
