Marie Gray Obituary

Marie Lorraine Saul Gray, 87, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. She was born on December 15, 1922, in Roanoke, Va., daughter of the late William Peyton and Daisy Irene Saul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Madison Gray; infant daughter, Velma Lee Gray; son, Melvin Douglas Gray and his wife, Mary Imogene; brother, Vernon and his wife, Sue; brothers, Raymond and Roy; and sister, Phyllis Saul. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and retired from Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. She is survived by her son, Garland Gray; daughters, Charlene Yeagley and husband, Bill, and Janice Gray and special friend, Tom Scarce; brother, Alvin Saul and wife, Billie Jean; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of 3 West at Richfield Nursing Home for the care given to Mother for the past six years, and Amedisys Hospice Services for their care and assistance in the final days of Mother's life. Services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Mike Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 3, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
