Rebecca Allen Obituary

Rebecca McGee Allen, 56, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Vernon C. Allen-Jr.; her sons, Daniel Christopher Allen and Jonathan Mackenzie Allen; her parents, Stephen Samuel McGee Jr., and Betty Pope McGee; her brother and sister-in-law, David T. McGee and Marcia D. McGee, and their daughter, Samantha; and her sister-in-law, Shirley and Frank Thomas Sr. and their family. Other surviving family members include, Bill and Virginia Pope, and their family, O. Littleton Nance Jr., and his family, R. Edward and Billie Jean Nance, and their family, and Mildred Bryson, and her family. Mrs. Allen was a loving wife to her husband for 33 years. He loved her more than any heart could imagine. Her love and dedication to her two children and parents was unsurpassed. She will surely be missed by everyone who came into contact with her.
She graduated with a BS degree from Virginia Tech in 1975. She was an extremely dedicated employee throughout her entire professional career and was currently employed at Liberty Medical Inc. She was a faithful servant of God and a longtime member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. We all know now that she is in the caring hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday evening, June 16, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel. Rev. David Tanner will officiate this service and the interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Raleigh Court United Methodist Church Foundation or The American Cancer Society.

My deepest sympathy to your family -- I am deeply sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Becky at Liberty, and it was always a pleasure to be around her. She never failed to face trials with dignity and grace, and she never failed to treat our clients with kindness. I will miss her very much.
