Nadine Young Obituary

Nadine James Young, 90, of Daleville, Va., died on Saturday, June 12, 2010. She was a member of Daleville Church of the Brethren, but had lived in Mechanicsville for the past 25 years. She recently moved back to the area and was residing at The Glebe. She retired from Roanoke & Botetourt Telephone Company in 1983 after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jennie James; and sisters, Mirian Coleman and Vivian Layman. Survivors include a brother, Aubrey James, of Texas; a sister, Flora Mae Phillips, of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Charlie Petty, and Patty and Cary Obenshain; son and daughterin-law, David and Theresa Young; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Daleville Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Mary Cline-Dietrich officiating and assisted by the Rev. Clyde Carter. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Daleville Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 85, Daleville, Va. 24083. Patty & family, I am so sorry about your mom. We were away last week & I just learned of her death when we returned last night. May your hearts be comforted during this time & in the days ahead as you adjust to a new way of life without her. She was a sweet mom & such a blessing to your family.
