Elma Smith Obituary

Elma Nigel Smith, 92, of Lexington, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 7, 2010, at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born on March 16, 1918, in Friars Hill, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Otey M. McMillion Sr. and Daisy M. Eggleston McMillion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Paulmer B. (Pete) Smith; a brother, Otey M. McMillion Jr.; a sister, Lelia Jessup; and two nephews, Richard A. McMillion and William L. Jessup. Mrs. Smith was a retired supervisor for the former Burlington Industries, which is now known as Mohawk. She was an active member of the Loving Rebeckahs Lodge #74, The Sharps and the Central Advent Christian Church; a devoted wife, homemaker, aunt, crafter, beautiful, loving, kind person who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Surviving are her special friends and caregivers, Harold and Margaret Conner; nieces and nephews, Susan L. Malowney, of Trinity, Fla., Barbara A. Leonard and husband, Marston C. (Bob) Leonard, of Tampa, Fla., Otey M. McMillion III, of Tampa, Fla., Kathy Jo McMillion Reinsmith and husband, Wrayburn D. (Kelly), of Shippensburg, Pa., Robert Jessup and wife, Lynne, of Ossian, Ind., Kay Jessup Robert and husband, Lawrence, of Portland, Ind., Kenneth Jessup and wife, Lillian, of Ridgeville, Ind., and Sheila Garrison, of Charlottesville, Va.; and numerous great and greatgreat-nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2010, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Louis Dodd and the Rev. Kenneth Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
