Dear Mitchell Family,
We are so sorry about "GrandPa". He was such an amazing light in our lives when our daughter, Amelia Joy, was receiving chemo @ Carilion. He always had a smile for her, would let her check people into the parking lot and of course share his treats with her. We tried sending a note to the Bernard address we had but it came back. Can you pls e-mail us your address as Amelia Joy has a card for your family. We will be praying for all of you, that your amazing memories of him will comfort you and that God hold you close and fill the hole in your heart with His amazing love. We were all so blessed to consider "GrandPa" a friend.

Dear Mitchell family,
I was so shocked and saddened by hearing from you about his passing last week. I was so fond of him that I would have come to the funeral home if I had only seen it or heard about it. He was a ray of sunshine, always giving me encouraging words and reminded me of my Dad in many ways. The kids and I sometimes stopped the car and walked over to the booth at Physicians to Children to share a laugh or two. I will miss my "doughnut days" when he would either share a treat or say stop by tomorrow. He will be sadly missed by so many. He truly was loved!! I will be thinking of all of you all the way from his bride, Toni, Mike, Chloe and Trevor. You will be in my prayers. Try to remember all the blessings you had with him and the fun times. My boys were sad too when I told them after I got home from the game.

Remember with joy the many wonderful memories you have and be at peace in knowing he is with the Lord in heaven and smiling even more broadly and cheerfully than ever! I had not seen Mr. Mitchell in many years, however, did not realize until his picture that I said hello to him many times while visiting Physicians to Women and Physicians to Children. To the Mitchell family, I work at Physicians to Women and seeing Dave at the gate was just part of going to work, he was a part of our company, he always greeted everyone politely and could make you smile. We will miss him.

Mitchell family,
I can't even begin to tell you how much Dave meant to me and other's at PtoC, he was truely a blessing in my life and brightened every day with his smile and concern for everyone he came in contact with. Thank yu for sharing him with me. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family.

Hi family, I met Dave Mitchell when he worked at Wards mobile home on Melrose. He was a great person and helped me a lot ! When I worked at community hospital we met up again and talked about "Old mobile home stories" I called him when "Hound" expired and he was upset and surprised to hear about his death. I too will miss Dave, his funny personality, jokes and expecially his friendship ! Donna Stone

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of loss. I had the pleasure of working with Dave for quite a few years. He truly was a wonderful man who always made me laugh. He would go above and beyond his duties, ordering parts for the gate himself for the parking lot for Physicians to Women & Children just to get it fixed quickly. He always had candy for the kids and treats for the squirrels as well. He will be an inspiration in Heaven and will be truly missed by a lot of people!

Dave will be greatly missed by so many. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend. Although our paths did not cross often in my adult life, no matter how much time had passed since the last time I saw him, my heart would warm at first glance. His smile and the twinkle in his eyes were the window and door to the loving, kind soul that he is. I know that you will keep each other strong at this time.
