Louise Rowland Obituary

Louise Rowland, 86, of Vinton, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2010. She was a member of the Vinton Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Church of Christ in Vinton. She is preceded in death by her parents, H. Clarence and Hazel R. Thomas; husband, Lewis D. Rowland; brother, Aubrey W. Thomas; and greatgranddaughter, Lexy Rowland. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Vicky F. Rowland, of Vinton; granddaughter, Helen Woodward and husband, Andrew, of Roanoke; grandsons, Buddy Rowland and fiancée, Daryl Hylton, and Chris Rowland and special granddaughter-in-law and caregiver, Mary Rowland, of Vinton; brother, Donnie Thomas and wife, Patsy, of Roanoke; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave., SW, Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 or to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 4005 Electric Road, Suite 202, Roanoke, Va. 24014. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentle Shepherd Hospice nurses, R.N. Marcie Harless, R.N. Leigh Anne Duncan and C.N.A. Rosa Baker. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Bill Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.

Buddy and Chris, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandmother. I lost my Paw Paw to Alzheimers, and it's a horrible disease. The only comfort is in knowing that she is in a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
