Harold Cadd Obituary

Harold Thomas Cadd, 74, of Lubbock, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Harold was born on December 4, 1935, in Troutville, Va. He was the only son of six children born to Charlie W. and Annie Donavant Cadd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Burnell C. Logan, Betty C. Brizendine, and Doris C. Selkirk. Harold achieved many things in his lifetime, including being named Mr. Colonial and becoming the Virginia Golden Gloves Champion of 1952. Later in life, Harold was married to Joyce Brown, of Virginia. She bore three children. Many years after, Harold married Sandra Beach, who bore two children with Harold and had one son as well. Many who knew Harold, considered him the "jack of all trades." From owning a flight school to working for Gerber Baby Foods, Harold was an accomplished business man. After retirement, Harold chose to move to Africa and become an independent missionary. He spent his time in Africa bringing over one million people to Christ. When Harold returned to Lubbock, he made his home at the Quail Ridge Alzheimer's Facility, where he died peacefully in God's arms. His leadership, ability to effect change, lively sense of humor, and friendly smile will be missed by his many friends and family members. Surviving are sisters, Carolyn Wooldridge (Jody), of Dallas Texas, and Peggy Daniels (Danny), of Wanchese, N.C.; and children, Debra Taggert (Bill), Roxann Niemann (Johnny), David Cadd (Julie), Jeremy Young (Ana), Cory Cadd (Melissa) and Millie Cadd (Aaron). Also surviving are many grandchildren, and nieces and nephews that loved and adored him. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Troy B. Webb. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707.

Our sincere love and sympathy to the family. We all were good friends as young people but have only had contact a few times in our older years. This does not deminish the love and admiration we have for Harold and his family. Remembering you all at this time of loss.

HAROLD WAS A TRUE FRIEND AND FORMER CLASSMATE AT COLONIAL HIGH SCHOOL. WE BONDED AS FRIENDS EARLY IN LIFE AND REMAINED IN TOUCH WITH EACH THROUGH OUT THE YEARS. HIS DEVOTION TO CHRIST WAS EVER PRESENT WHENEVER WE MET IN PERSON, E-MAILED, OR SPOKE ON THE PHONE. I AM PRESENTLY IN FLORIDA, BUT MY HEART AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HAROLD.S FAMILY. ALWAYS, WAYNE COOK
