William Monroe Tucker

William Monroe Tucker, 80, of Moneta, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his residence. He was born on Thursday, April 17, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas, a son of the late Frank L. Tucker and Cecile Arey Tucker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Pearl Fuller Tucker. He was a United States Navy veteran achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retirement and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and longtime member at Popular Forest Golf course. He recently served as president of the Senior Golf Association with many friends. He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Tucker Byrd, of Moneta, and Linda Faye McClannan, of Virginia Beach; and three grandchildren, Virginia E. Byrd, Marshall W. Byrd, and Matthew S. McClannan. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, Va. 24501. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne L. Murphy officiating.
