James McCarty Obituary

James Leonard McCarty, 82, of Bedford, Va., died on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Alexandria, Va., on February 11, 1928, a son of the late Raymond McCarty and Margaret Miller McCarty. He was a retired supervisor with the United States Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Marian McCarty; his daughter, Kathy M. Boozer, of Blue Ridge; his son, James L. McCarty Jr., of Sommerset, Mass.; three grandchildren, Vicki Boozer, Sean McCarty, and Matthew McCarty; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond McCarty, of Herndon; and many wonderful friends including, Dana and David Tinsley. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Community Resource Center, 403 Otey St., Bedford, Va. 24523 or to the Bedford Humane Society. Arrangements by BurchMessier Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford, Va., 540-586-7360.
