Dorothy Elliott Obituary

Dorothy Durham Elliott, 91, of Branson, Mo., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 18, 2010. Dorothy married Giles C. Elliott, of Roanoke, and spent her life helping her husband as they built and pastored churches. They were ordained together by the Assemblies of God and though Giles went to be with the Lord in 1996, Dorothy remained, to her death, an Assemblies of God Minister. She considered their three children her earthly treasure, but after they were adults Dorothy went to school again in Roanoke and became a licensed nurse. She nursed in Virginia, California and Texas. Her career in nursing spanned 30 years and ended after her husband, Giles, left for heaven. Dorothy continued being very active in ministry at First Assembly of God, Spring, Texas. She and Giles had been pastors to seniors and Dorothy continued after his death. Dorothy's journey on this earth came to an end after spending five years living in Branson, Mo., with her daughter, Gloria. Dorothy as a wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother was considered a gift from God to her entire family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Rev. Giles Elliott; her son, Richard Giles Elliott; her adopted daughters, Patricia Henry and Maureen Peters; her mother, Mary Durham Huntoon; father, Frances Durham; sisters, Edith Brockman and Violet Stewart; and brothers, Robert Durham and Paul Durham. Dorothy leaves behind her eldest, Mary E. Donald and husband, Dr. Bob D. Donald, from New Caney, Texas; her only loving son, Frank K. Elliot and wife, Kristiana, from N. Richland Hills, Texas; and her youngest, Gloria D. Elliott, of Branson, Mo.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Dorothy dearly loved family and since all her siblings were deceased, she cherished her many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations to the Missionary Ministry of Dusty Feet, 1029 Sassafras Road, Spokane, Mo. 65754. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Life Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
