Dorothy Richards Obituary

Dorothy Gay Richards, 94, of Ferrum, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Dorothy was born on February 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Green and Fannie Radford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bunn Richards; daughter, Dean Atkins; great-grandchild, Landon Cockram; four brothers, Hank, Palmer, Cricket and Otho; and one sister, Irma. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Sanders (Billy), Jennette Pigg (Doug), Diann Wagoner (Ed), and Velma Cockram (Ronnie); grandchildren, Paula, David, Bobby, Sam, Missy, Johnathan, Andy and Dale Keith; 10 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and three sisters, Ethel, Naomi and Ann. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Calvin Hickson officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
Mama's favorite saying was, "I'm fine except what ails me." Now that's changed to, "Nothing ails me, I'm FINE."
