To Ceal and the Slough family,
I was blessed to meet George and Ceal through the Jefferson Center about six months ago. While our time together was brief, George's impact was HUGE...always a smile on his face and a friendly greeting to the Jeff's patrons. George leaves a legacy of sharing kindness, care and humor with friends and strangers alike - an example we can "pay forward" in our own lives to honor how George lived his.

I ran the Home Plate Beer stand for about 3-4 years and recently moved to Lexington SC. I could always count on George for a good laugh, especially after one game in particular...He told the crowd: It's time to go...I don't care where you go but you can't saty here!
He will be greatly missed and my prayer is that God will bless your family during this time of loss.

Mrs. Slough and family,
I first met George through my parents, JoAnn and Roger Boucher. He was a wonderful man, who never met anyone he couldn't call friend. He was never without a smile. I will miss him and his straw hat at the game tonight, but know he will be ushering the game from heaven. I am so glad to have known George, and even though he was not family, I loved him just the same.

I knew George from youth group, where he was able to show a bunch of knuckleheads that you can be a good person and still have a good time. And when he took up residence at the ballpark, he made every game that much more special. He was never able to cure me of my Democratic ways, but supported me anyway. And shortly after I was married, he told my new wife a joke about wedding cake. I won't repeat it here, but I'm sure you know what it was, and she was a little suprised to hear it from the church youth group leader.
I hadn't seen him since I moved to Richmond, but I thought about him a lot. I'll miss him.
To Ceal, Kenny, and the family, you're all in my family's prayers. You were lucky folks to have George in your life, and we were all lucky that you shared him with us.

The Salem Red Sox lost a great fan and a true friend. Leaving the ball park after a game will not be the same without hearing George saying "Everyone go home and take your kids with you, so I can go home".

Dear Ceal and Family,
How saddened I was to read in the PPG of George's death. What a wonderful guy. Such a beautiful legacy and great memories he has left. He was a blessing to all. Watch for those quiet, unexpected little miracles, reminders of his great love for all of you, in the next days, weeks and months. What a lovely time to go home to heaven on Easter Tuesday, to be with his Resurrected, Glorious Savior. Know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Mary Frances Garrison, Pittsburgh

I first met George at the ball park and I felt an immediate friendship for him. This world is a lesser place with his passing but heaven is better than ever. He always had a friendly and intelligent word for everyone he spoke to and my heart is sad that I want see him anymore on this side of eternity. My sincere condolonces go to his entire family but he wouldn't want you to be sad for him because he is in a much better place now, with his Master and Savior.

Our Thanks To All Of You,
We, the Slough Clan, would like to thank all of you. The prayers and the support are tremendous. Mrs. Bledsoe, Danny and Donna Keeley, we truly appreciate you being there when things were at their worst. George had so many people that love him... but please do not forget Ceal and how she helped in what he did. As Jim Carrey says in Bruce Almighty, "Behind every great man is an even greater woman rolling her eyes." Mom was his rock and he was hers.

Whether in a straw hat or an Eagles cap, I always smiled to see George coming down the hall to volunteer for us. Ceil, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
