Glare and Ardene were constants in my life as I grew up in the "big city" of Roanoke. We made frequent trips to Floyd to see all our family there. Some of my fondest memories of those days were many trips to the Buffalo for picnics in Glare's jeep.

Glare was a true gentleman. Peace be with you, Glare. You shall be missed.

I have fond memories of my Uncle Glare and Aunt Ardene. When I was a little girl, I spent the night at their house and took my first bath in a full-size bath tub. Since I live in Florida now, I am sorry I am unable to attend Uncle Glare's funeral.

Deepest sympathy to all the family, loved ones, and friends of Glare. My memories of him go back to my days of growing up in the Laurel Branch Community and seeing him at the (legendary) S.D. Bond's Store. Later I knew him as a near neighbor to my uncle, J.W. Hylton. Glare was a fine man, a joy to know, and I feel blessed by having been touched by him all those years ago.
