Helen Johnson Lacy

Helen Johnson Lacy, 72, of Bedford, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. She was born on Wednesday, September 1, 1937, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Johnson and Nellie Mae Carter Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Lacy. Surviving is her son, Randy E. Lacy and wife, Cindy, of Bedford; two daughters, Karen Leigh Lacy and Lisa L. Arthur and husband, David, both of Bedford; three brothers, Ray B. Johnson and wife, Peggy, of Charlottesville, Richard H. Johnson and wife, of Avis, and Willie A. Johnson, all of Bedford; two grandchildren, Christine Lacy Carter and husband, Robert, and Mary Elizabeth Lacy; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Carter, Bryan Carter, Hannah Carter and Madison Lacy; and a special dear friend, Shirley Anderson, of Thaxton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Brother K.B. Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, April 29, 2010, after noon and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, Va., 540-586-3304.
