I am writing today to honor my friend, known to myself and many others as "Uncle Jeff." I was hit with a deep sense of sadness when I found out that Jeff had died. For one, I knew that I would never be able to have another conversation with Jeff, and as was stated and is certainly true, Jeff had a "way with words" both written and oral ( verbally if you caught him at the right time:). I appreciate very much our long talks and Jeff's frank and witty, yet thoughtful incite and advice. Jeff was truly a wonderful friend to me, from the beginning, perhaps one of my best "fans" as well. Although, (damn-it!)it had been a few months since we had talked, I feel that Jeff and I had reaffirmed a friendship that we both knew was a "you know I love ya'" kind. However, I mourn that I'll not be able to experience first had Jeff's unique and charming personality. I'm very glad that our lives had brought us together in the ways they did. I miss Jeff's friendship even now. There is truly no way to "sum up" in a few lines what someone such as Jeff has meant to me and how his being has brought significance to my own, so that said, Jeff, 'ya know I love you man, a la prochaine...amitie toujours!!!

Thanks to all who wrote; I'm sure Jeffrey would have been pleased to realize he was in your thoughts. I already miss him.

Dear Nancy, I am so sorry to read of Jeffrey's death. It seems like yesterday you kids were coming to the Roanoke Public Library with your Mother to check out records and paintings from the Fine Arts Department. I extend to you and your family my deepest sympathy as you experience this loss. I pray your heart will find peace as you move forward in life. Irene Stanley, Fine Arts Librarian retired.

I was lucky enough to recently reconnect with Jeff on Facebook after many years. We went to school together and rode the same bus. I remember most of you as well. Jeff and I were happy to hear from each other again and had emailed several times, hoping to get together in the near future. To have found him and then lost him again so soon is bittersweet. I considered Jeff a good friend from long ago; he always made me laugh with his wit and amazed me with his intellect. I remember all of you, his siblings, and want you to know that I am thinking of you as well. I will miss him.
