Leila Ellen Johnson

Leila Ellen Johnson, 97, of 420 Stone Street, Christiansburg, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. She was born on February 27,1913, the daughter of the late Samuel J. And Martha Janice Lynch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Johnson; son-in-law, Raymond L. Montgomery; and uncles, William T. Mitchell and James E. Johnson Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory , one daughter, Connie G. MenefeeMontgomery, of New York; grandson, James E. Johnson Jr. (Sheena), of Christiansburg; granddaughter, Pamela D. Montgomery; two greatgrandsons, Christopher and Michael Whitley; greatgranddaughter, Chastity Whitley, of Charlotte, N.C.; special grandchildren, Jarius, Brandon, Marisha, Kirby, Donna, and Chris Durham, of Christiansburg; special friends, Ann Grover and Jean Roberson; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Patricia Kirby, daughter-in-law, Marisha Kirby, Donna Durham, and Martina Anderson for the special way that they were there to help when needed the most. We also give thanks to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Virginia Tech Adult Care Services and New River Valley Senior Services. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.
