Margaret Ballou

Margaret N. Ballou, 80, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. She was a longtime member of Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren and retired from Rainbow Bread Company with 32 years of service. Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Marshall Benjamin Ballou; her parents, Herman and Effie Neathawk; and brother, William Neathawk. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John L. Ballou; daughter, Betty Sue Altic, of Richmond; grandchildren, Leslie Altic and her husband, Tommy Ferguson, and Jennifer Harris and her husband, Ronnie Harris; brother, Herman Neathawk and wife, Elsie, of Troutville; sisters-in-law, Jackie Hudson, of Roanoke, Katherine Brown, of Lexington, and Delia Neathawk, of Appomattox; brother-in-law, Robert Ballou, of Sterling, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Glenn Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 9, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
