Margaret Stump Obituary

Margaret Helen Brooks Stump, 89, formerly of Radford and Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010, at Wheatland Hills Retirement Community, Christiansburg, Va. She was born on January 30, 1921, to the late Crockett Wadson and Gracie Pearl (Pugh) Brooks, of Radford, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Stump, on January 30, 2010, her "Sweetheart and Soul Mate" of 61 years; two brothers, Leslie H. Brooks Sr. and Merle Crockett Brooks; a sister, Aileen B. Chesney; and a niece, Mary Louise B. Warner.
Her places of employment were the Treasurer's Office of Pulaski County, Va., and the Treasurer's Office of Roanoke County, retiring from there after 20 years of service.
She is survived by nieces, Sandra (Charles) Brady, Margaret Susan Chesney, Linda Catrett, Debra (James) Alexander, Wanda (Don) Wirt, Merlene (Don) Poff, Ann (Paul) Brown, Brenda (Wayne) Allums, and Betty (Ken) Harrison; nephews, Jerry (Penny) Brooks, and L.H. Brooks Jr.; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and greatgreat-nephews.
Our family would like to send a very "special thank-you" to the following people: the staff at Wheatland Hills Retirement Community-Christiansburg; Good Samaritan HospiceChristiansburg; Advanced Home Care-Christiansburg; Dr. Clement Binnings and his nurses, Sandra and Barbara, at the Lee-Hi Medical Center-Salem; the Christiansburg Rescue Squad for their many trips to the hospital for us; Brian Horne and his staff at Horne Funeral Home for their support in helping us in the planning of Helen and Tom's funerals in such a short span of time; and our family and friends for their many acts of kindness shown to us. Our family has been so 'Blessed by God Our Heavenly Father' for His allowing each of our paths to cross, because your kind and compassionate tender loving care, help, and support has meant so much to us during Helen and Tom's illnesses before their deaths. Words cannot express our appreciation to you except to say We Love Each of You!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073 or to your favorite charity.
The funeral service will be held 10;30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in the Sherwood Abby Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Terry A. Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Cemetery.
