Suelle McKellar Swartz

Suelle McKellar Swartz, 98, of Roanoke, Va., and Titusville, Fla., passed away in Titusville on May 21, 2010. She was born on November 11, 1911, in Homerville Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Idus Eugene and Ann Belle McCrory McKellar, of Macon, Ga.; her sister, Addie Rie Baird, of Macon, Ga.; and her husband, William P. Swartz Jr., of Roanoke, Va., and Titusville, Fla. She is survived by their four children, William P. Swartz III, of Titusville, Fla., Anne Swartz Simmons, of Front Royal, Va., C. Eugene Swartz, of Wirtz, Va., and Suelle Marie Swartz, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren; and greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Swartz was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Wesleyan College, Macon, Ga., and a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi. She organized the first Naturalization Ceremony in the Roanoke Court under the sponsorship of the Roanoke Junior Woman's Club and served as President of the Club. She was active in civic organizations, The Roanoke Symphony, Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and American Association of University Women. Due to her interest in genealogy she became a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Colonial Dames of the MCVII Century and The United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an active member and teacher at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church in Roanoke and Indian River United Methodist Church in Titusville and a life member of the Gideon Auxiliary.
