Vurble Bateman Obituary

Vurble L. Bateman, 82, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2010. He was born May 30, 1927. He served in the Army in the Korean War and was retired from G.E. He was predeceased by his parents George Bateman and Daisy Curry Bateman, brothers Kenneth Bateman and Deeward Bateman and sister, Katherine Fisher. Surviving are his son, Mark L. Bateman and wife, Diann R. Bateman, of Roanoke, Va.; sisters, Doris McClung, Mary Bowman, Louise Nance, Elizabeth Stone, Nancy Coleman; sister-in-law, Yvonne Bateman; and many nieces and nephews; very special friends and family; Michelle Handy and god-father of Devin Sutliff, Jacqueline Sutliff and Jayden Crawford. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, N.C. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 982-2100.
