Arlene Barooshian Obituary

Arlene (Howe) Barooshian
6/12/1943 - 12/30/2010

Arlene Kay Barooshian was born in Yreka, California, June 12, 1943 to Arnie and Viola "Toots" Howe, and passed away December 30, 2010 with her family at her side.
When she was two years old, the family moved to Placerville. After graduating from Placerville Elementary School and El Dorado County High School, she attended San Francisco State College and graduated from California State University Sacramento. Arlene was a school teacher in Buckeye School District for 38 years. Teaching primarily first grade, she was selected as El Dorado County Teacher of the Year in 1986-87, and was greatly loved and admired by all of her students. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma society of women educators, and was a volunteer participant in the Auburn Parkinson's Support Group and El Dorado County "Ride and Shine" equestrian therapy and recreation for disabled persons. A life-long animal lover, she enjoyed the company of her pets, including two horses and many dogs and cats.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 40 years, Stephen, brother Wilbur (Barbara) Howe, sister Marilyn (Phil) McCarthy, step-daughter Jane (Scott) Twombley, three step-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A beautiful person, she will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at Green Valley Community Church, 3500 Missouri Flat Road, Placerville, on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 1 p.m.
