Arthur Albert Kearney was 89 when he passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010 at his home in Auburn, Calif.
Art was born November 23, 1920 in Sonora, Calif., to John and Gertrude Seibert.
During his youth he would help around Western movie sets filmed in the Gold Country. After completing high school he became a surveyor for Pacific Bell and then joined the Army during
World War II. When he returned home, he resumed working at Pacific Bell for 45 years. He met his beloved wife Ann Kearney while working in Emeryville and they spent a cherished 63 years together.
He was blessed with five children, Phil and wife Peggy Kearney of Milford Conn., Mary Kearney of Auburn, Calif., James and wife Charlene Kearney of Menlo Park, Calif., Stephen and wife Catie Kearney of Monument, Colo., and Nancy and husband Bob Tucker of Sparks, Nev., and four wonderful grandchildren Sarah, Daniel, Christopher and Sean Kearney.
Art was an avid sports fan, had a passion for reading as well as spending time with family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Rd, Auburn, Calif. At a later date, inurnment will take place at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art's name can be made to Hospice of the Foothills in Grass Valley, Calif. Please sign the online guestbook at chapelofthehills-auburn.com
