Because of family dynamics Bette and I were adults before we got to know each other. I enjoyed getting to know and become friends with Bette. We also shared the love of teaching, thus strengthening our bond with each other. I loved her positive attitude, quick smile, and friendly laugh. I will miss her and pray for Walt, her children, grandchildren, and Gary.

Walt, Alan and Annie...we share your sadness in Bette's passing. She was such a fun person and a great teacher, companion and mother.

Judy and I always enjoyed our visits with Walt and Bette. No matter when we stopped by your home, Bette always stopped what she was doing, called of the dogs and sat down for a entertaining visit. She had such a caring way and made us laugh.

May you be conforted at this time of sadness with the wonderful memories of your mom and sweetheart.

My deepest sympathy to the Ludington/Dudley family as you celebrate the beautiful life of your wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Bette was a remarkable woman and as Walt called her...a "flower". Her life reflected the beauty and fragrance of that name. I am holding the family in my heart.

Walt,
David Albrand told me the sad news. It has been years and years, but I remember our fun times at Granite and at Granite Junior with Bette. My thoughts are with you.

It was with great sorrow that I read of the passing of my old friend, Bette. I wish her family, especially my fine friend, Walt, the comfort of knowing she is going to a better place. San Jose is not so far from Roseville, but, being legally blind, I cannot drive to be at the funeral. Please accept my humble wishes of comfort and love for you all.

What a fabulous teacher she was! The year I was fortunate enough to meet Mrs. Ludington, Bette, she had accepted a long-term sub position for a teacher who was battling cancer. I enjoyed her class and her company so much that I also became a TA. I'm sad that my children, who will be attending Eich, will not have the opportunity to be touched by such a wonderful and caring teacher.

My heart and well wishes go out to her family. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Thank you Bette for allowing us to be a part of your life. My heart goes out to all of your family. You will be missed by so many. Love, Debbie and Ashlee Mitchell

Mrs. Ludington was my 7th grade math teacher 12 years ago; she was the first teacher who helped me understand pre algebra. She was a very pleasant person to be around with, and she cared a lot about her students she has taught. Although its been quite a few years since Ive seen her, I will miss her very much. And she will be missed by a lot of people. My thoughts go out to her family, friends, students, former students, and co workers.

Bette has been missed in the Eich staff room this year and in our hearts forever. I will miss sharing our Monday NASCAR conversations together. She loved Michael Waltrip. We will miss seeing Walt and Bette in Bel Air or walking the neighborhood. I always loved the stories she shared about her dogs through the years. Bette was a great person with a big heart who loved teaching Math, being a mom and grandma and loving Walt. May God bring peace to the family knowing what a difference Bette has made in the lives of so many people. She is in His hands now. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Bette, you were such an amazing and beautiful lady. I am so grateful for the time that I got to have you for a Mother-in-law to be, I only wish it could have been longer. You were a wonderful mother who raised great children that you can be so proud of! Thank you for giving me my soulmate, Alan. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.

I was a student of Mrs. Ludington at Eich Jr. High. I will never forget the patience she had with me, as I struggled with math. She would often stay after school to help me. I remember what a kind face she had. A few years ago I saw her at Sam’s club with my daughters I didn’t recognize her at first but she sure recognized me and remembered me all too well. I was surprised that out of all the students she had over the years she could remember me and it meant a lot. The world could use more teachers like her. Mrs. Ludington you will me missed

Some of my happiest memories were shared with the Ludington and Feliz families. Bette was a Pi Beta Phi in her college years, as I was. I always enjoyed knowing I was in some way, "a sister." I am so grateful for the time spent with Bette and her daughter's family during an Easter, those Saturday breakfasts and warm summer afternoons. She lightened the mood and lit up the room back then as I know she is doing now in Heaven.

Bette was my little sister. She could be a pest when we were growning up, but she grew into a beautiful human being. She loved to teach, and touched the lives of many. We are all better for having known her. I will miss you Sis. Love you!

Hello Walt,
I'm very sorry to read of Betty's passing. I express my condolences to you and your family. From our high school days at Granite, I have a lot of fond memories of Betty. Perhaps the most memorable: Betty was my date for a senior dance at the school. My only mode of transportation was the family car, a 1953 Buick Roadmaster. For this date, I wanted something nicer. A friend, who owned a real classy 1957 Chevy, upon hearing of my woes, offered to let me borrow his car for the evening. I was ecstatic to have access to such a car. The friend worked as a bagger at Reams on State Street, and that was where I was to pick up the car. Not telling my parents what my plans were, I rode my bicycle to the store, found my friend and informed him I was there to take possession of the car as he promised I could. To my horror, he informed me that his dad wouldn't allow him to loan out the car to me. Wow! Now what do I do. I'm supposed to pick Betty up in half an hour, and I'm suddenly stranded. There's no way I can ride my bike home and ask my dad for the family car, I'd already told him I'd made arrangements for the evening, and besides, it was a 1953 Buick. With much reluctance and total embarrassment, I called Betty and informed her about my lack of a vehicle for the evening. I'm not sure if I went into a lot of detail. I then asked her if she'd ask her father if she could borrow their family car. Her father said, "Yes," and I suppose reluctantly. A short while later, Betty pulled up in front of Reams, driving the sporty 1956 Ford Fairlain. I still remember the color as being white and apricot orange. I had to borrow a dime from my friend to make the call to Betty. If we went anywhere after the dance, I suppose Betty paid for the treats. Take care my friend. We, your high school mates haven't seen you in a number of years. I hope you'll make it to our high school 50th year class reunion this September.
