Duane Douglas Stigen

Duane Douglas Stigen, age 89, passed away on October 7, 2010. Duane was born May 30, 1921 in Shelly, Minn. He was a Lieutenant in the Army during World War II serving in the Aleutian Islands.
He met Dorothy Korich while on leave in San Francisco and they were married in 1945. After the Army he partnered with his father-in-law at several bars/restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. He moved to Georgetown in 1977 where he owned and operated the Miner's Club until 1998.
Duane was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy and daughter Susan of Auburn, sons Douglas of Georgetown and Timothy of Anchorage, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on November 6, 2010 1 to 4 p.m. at the VFW in Georgetown. The family requests that any donations be made in his memory to the Sutter Auburn Faith Hospice Program.

Cousin Dorothy and Family,

We were so sorry to hear of Duane's passing. We remember him always being so jovial with that great, big grin. We know you will miss him tremendously.
