Vera Ruth Mackey
11/12/1917 - 10/15/2010

Vera Ruth Mackey, age 92, passed away October 15, 2010 in Loomis, California.
Ruth was born November 12, 1917 in Richmond, Calif. The daughter of the late Virgil and Vera Strickland, Ruth treasured her early childhood memories of growing up on the family ranch in El Dorado. She was a graduate of Sacramento High School and a past Honored Queen of Bethel 74 Sacramento, International Order of Job's Daughters. Although she was employed for many years at Weinstocks Department Store, the center of her life was always her family.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband E. James Mackey, Jr. and by her dear sister, Sarah Margaret (Mardie) Jackman and husband Bert. She is survived by her three children Ken Mackey (Barbara) of Loomis, Linda Dern (Richard) of Phoenix, Dan Mackey of Rocklin, grandchildren Robbi Murphy (Paul), Scott Mackey, Stephanie Mahlberg, Steve Duncan, Brian Duncan (Kwan), Lisa Dern, Julie Mackey, Jason Mackey, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was a special aunt to Ann Yonce (Jim), and nephews Eric Jackman (Linda), Bill Johnson (Becky) and the late Edwin Johnson. The family is forever grateful to her loving caregivers and companions at Gold Age Villa in Loomis where she resided for the past two years.
At her request, there will be no funeral services. Remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or your favorite charity.
