William Ross Obituary

William J. Ross Sr.
3/28/1925 - 10/28/2010

William J. Ross Sr. passed away on Thursday October 28, 2010 at the age of 85.
He was born on March 28, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 16. After serving in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS LEE FOX, Bill married Anna Marie Welch and raised three sons and a daughter in Rosedale, N.Y.
Bill moved his family to the Loomis basin in 1978 and has been an active community member since. His generosity and devotion touched many during his service as Christian Youth Counselor and as a member of Saint Peter and Paul Parish Men's club. In addition, he was also active as a Little League coach for 20 years and was an operational member of the Knights of Columbus for over 52 years.
Bill had a successful career as a telecommunications worker for Pacific Bell Telephone and is survived by his wife, sons Thomas and Donald, six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Bill was an extremely generous man, always giving to those less fortunate - often organizing food baskets during the holidays. Bill also had an unending sense of humor especially for those who were fortunate enough to play a round of golf with him.
Bill will be deeply missed by his friends and family. His spirit and good nature will be honored during a Memorial Service Friday November 12, 2010 4 p.m. at Saint Peter and Paul Church, Rocklin, California.

Bill will be missed by all who knew him!! The golf group will not be the same as our Bingo, Bango, Bongo teacher is gone and I was a great student, always paying. Boulder Creek was Bill's gift to all of us that made the yearly trip and he will be missed at all future golf outings.

Bill was a fun guy to be around, and always went the extra mile to help others. We remember him in our prayers, as well as Anna.

We will miss Bill's great attitude and humor. He kept our Golfing Group active, especially at Boulder Creek where he took charge of the trip. He is what you would call a "true gentleman." Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
