Sharon Miller Obituary

SHARON A. MILLER, 79 BELVIDERE - Sharon A. Miller, 79, of Belvidere died June 2, 2010, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, after a long illness, with her family by her side. Born April 17, 1931 to Gerald and Gertrude (Wiler) Baker in Seward, in the same farm house as her father. Educated in Cherry Valley and Rockford schools. Married George A. Miller on March 5, 1949, in Belvidere. Member of First United Methodist Church, Town and Country Garden Club, and former Girl Scout leader. Sharon was an avid gardener when she was able. Loved to listen to and watch birds, especially Cardinals, which were her favorite. She was the biggest fan of John Wayne and loved watching his movies and collecting his memorabilia. Her favorite movie was "Chism" and she loved to see him sitting on his horse under the tree at the beginning of the movie. Survived by children, Thomas (Tina) Miller of Belvidere, Lori (Bob) Martin of Davenport, Fla., and Edward Miller of Belvidere; granddaughters, Kelli (Josh) Day, Heather (Kenney) Burgin, Gerrica Miller, Gina Martin and Abagail Miller; great-grandchildren, Kaden Burgin and Maylin Day; brothers, James (Nancy) Baker of Athens and Francis (Loretta) Baker of Pecatonica; sisters, Janice Couch of Machesney Park and Gail (Keith) Hodge of Rockton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; and husband, George in 2001. Special thanks to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center Orthopedic Unit, UW Madison Hospital and Fresenius Dialysis Center, for all her special care. Service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, in Belvidere Funeral Home, 203 Logan Ave., Belvidere, the Rev. James Crone, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 7, in the funeral home.
