Laiping Lee Obituary

Laiping Lee, 89 ROCKFORD - Laiping Lee, 89, of Rockford passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at home. Laiping was born Sept. 15, 1921, to a high school principal, Law Kwong Fuk and Yueng Shunk Kok. She graduated from high school in China and became an elementary school teacher. She married Lieh Chiu Lee, a high school teacher, in 1947 in Yu Lin, Guan Xi Province, in China. They moved to Hong Kong in 1952. They had four children, who they taught at a young age the importance of education, to respect their elders and to help others and be charitable. These values were passed on in their family to the next generations. Laiping is survived by son, YuMing Lee (Chui Wah Lee) of Rockford; daughter, YeeMing Lee of Rockford; son, WanMing Lee (Zhu Hong) of Chicago; son, SuenMing Lee (Wai Kuen Lee) of Rockford; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Laiping is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law, Man Ngok Tam. The family would like to especially thank Northern Illinois Hospice for the care they gave to their mother. Service at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation one hour before service time. For more information, visit sunsetfhmem gardens.com.
