Robert and Nora Viands

ROBERT L. VIANDS NORA M. VIANDS ROCKFORD - Robert L. and Nora M. Viands entered into eternal life together on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Fairhaven Health Center, surrounded by family. Robert died first, and exactly sixteen hours later Nora joined him. Together in June they celebrated 71 years of marriage. Robert worked for over 30 years as a Watkins Distributor and then retired as a U.S. Rural Postal Carrier. He loved fishing, and gardening and was always proud to showcase his tomatoes, sharing them with all family and friends. He took pride in the home he built and the family he raised. Nora was so devoted to her family. She loved a little flavor of the casinos and enjoyed playing cards. Nora was very proud of her 25 years of service to St. Bridget's, not only as an educator, but a cheerleading coach and facilitator for the altar servers. Survivors include their children, Bill (Kaysandra), Bob Jr. (Valerie) Viands, Barb (Kent) Milton, Beverly and Betty Viands; 18 grandchildren; and many loving great and great-great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by sister, Helen Dannenberger. Predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Viands and Virgie Adams. Nora is survived by sister, Eileen. Predeceased by brothers, Jack, Chuck and Richard Schaddel and sister, Marianne. Combined services at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service.
