Joanne Burns Obituary
Joanne J. Burns, 81, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born December 22, 1934 in Lake City, IA, daughter of Fred A. and Pearl E. (Campbell) Scroggins. Married Samuel "Sam" Burns Sr. in Rockford on December 29, 1951. He predeceased her August 28, 2001. Faithful member of Jehovah's Witnesses South Congregation. Most of her life was devoted to family and her religious beliefs. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include daughter, Vickie (Tom) Guiles; son, Sam H. Burns; grandchildren, Aharon (Holly) Babcock, Jason Guiles and Heather (Jamie) Campbell; great-grandsons, Gage and Gavin Campbell; "adopted daughter", Suzanne Lewis; brother, Denny L Scroggins; nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Mary Jo Ironside, who never gave up on Mom, Heartland Hospice, and Ken Holmes Jr. for their care and compassion.
Visitation 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL. Funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016, in the funeral home. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be directed at a later date. Online condolences may be left at sundbergfh.com.

I was heart broken when I seen this I loved her very much
She was my cousin and friend spent many hours on the phone talking and laughing. her laugh was amazing she was always so upbeat and happy. I will miss her and her happy voice but she is with Sam again I know she is happy . Love you and you will be missed dearly. Wanda
