David Marriett Obituary

DAVID MARRIETT, 61 LOVES PARK - David Marriett, 61, of Loves Park passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Born Aug. 27, 1949, in Rockford to Ray Joseph and Jean (Campbell) Marriett. He graduated in 1967 from Harlem High School where he ran track and cross country. He attended Rock Valley College. In 1969 he was hired by Illinois Bell Telephone and saw many changes in the company by the time he retired in 2004 after 35 years of service. David married Ruth Moeller on June 10, 1972, in Sterling, together they had 2 children; son, Paul Matthew Marriett, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Marriett. David took great pride in his children and was a strong influence on both graduation from college and a major influence on Paul attending and graduating from law school. He loved the outdoors, was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He enjoyed spending vacations in Hayward, Wis., and anywhere he could spend a day fishing, and always looked forward to opening days in May and October. David was an avid duck hunter and enjoyed hunting with his brother-in-law, Mark Moeller. Member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockford, and a life member of Rockford Masonic Lodge 102 in Loves Park. Survived and greatly missed by wife, Ruth; son, Paul; daughter, Elizabeth; mother, Jean; and sister, Jean Ferguson of Colorado. Predeceased by father, Ray Joseph Marriett in 1999. Funeral service at noon Saturday, May 21, in Masonic Lodge 102, 6780 N. Second St., Loves Park, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Nat Bauer, associate pastor of Riverside Community Church will officiate. Masonic service immediately after funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Boy Scout of America, 1800 Seventh Ave., Rockford, IL 61104. Arrangements by Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home & Cremation Services Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road.

Ruth & Family,
There are just not words to let you know how sorry I am regarding your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult of times. I guess I'm the sort of person who always wonders "what if" and it makes so gratful that God leaves us with the memories, we get to keep those forever and ever in our hearts and minds.
