Jean Keeney Obituary

JEAN MARIE KEENEY, 71 LENEXA, Kan. - Jean Marie Keeney, 71, of Lenexa, formerly of Durand, Ill., died Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Shawnee of complications of a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Born Sept. 20, 1939, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Wahler. Lived six years in Lenexa, going there from Durand. Married George Keeney in Rockford, Ill. They were married for more than 30 years. She was employed as a secretary by the Winnebago County Health Department for 35 years. Member of Durand United Methodist Church. She graduated from Lena-Winslow High School. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carol Keeney; grandsons, Dylan and Devin; sister, Joanne Boeck; brother, Kenneth (Phyllis) Stites; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, George. Memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in Durand United Methodist Church, 102 E. Main St., Durand, with Pastor Brian Channel officiating. Burial in Bethel Cemetery, Durand. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main St., Durand.
