Robert Sherertz Obituary

ROBERT DAVID SHERERTZ, 91 ROCKFORD - Robert David Sherertz, 91, of Rockford died at 8:47 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born Aug. 23, 1919, in Pittsburg, Ill., son of Morton and Ada Hayes Sherertz. Graduated from Pittsburg High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Married Marjorie Allen on June 6, 1942, in New Milford. He was employed by Mechanics Universal, retiring after 33 years of employment. Robert was a man of firm convictions and was always strong for his family. Survivors include wife, Marjorie; sons, Richard Sherertz and Allen (Angelia) Sherertz; daughters, Nancy Sherertz, Barbara Lynn Sherertz and Brenda Kay Sherertz; grandchildren, Jimmy Bowen, Dylan Nelson, Rebecca Rose, Brandon Rose, Richard David Sherertz, Maritsa Poratte, Stephanie Thrush and Scott and Rachel Sherertz; one great-grandson. Predeceased by his parents; a brother; and two sisters. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with visitation from 10a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Dr. Richard Wang will officiate. Burial in New Milford Cemetery. Express condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.

On Memorial Day, my Uncle Robert, who fought in Germany in World War Two with the Allied forces, and helped liberate survivors at Auschwitz, is remembered with gratitude for helping make our Country safe. He also raised a great family. His children and Grandchildren can be proud of him.
