Susan McCornock Obituary

Susan K. McCornock, 59 Beloved Wife, Mom and Grandma WINNEBAGO - Susan K. McCornock, 59, of Winnebago died Thursday, June 2, 2011, in Provena St. Anne Center, Rockford, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 5, 1952, in Rockford, the daughter of Myron and Ruth (Benson) Christen. Sue married Terry McCornock on Nov. 21, 1970, in St. John Lutheran Church, Pecatonica. She was a waitress at Stockholm Inn for many years. Sue dearly loved all the family gatherings and being with her grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed gardening. Susan is lovingly survived by her husband, Terry McCornock of Winnebago; children, Todd (Malinda) McCornock of Rockford and Stacy (Tim) Roggensack of Winnebago; granddaughters, Marissa and Hannah Roggensack of Winnebago; brothers, Larry (Kay) Christen of Mendota, Monte (Nancy Cook) Christen of Rockford and Rusty (Pat) Christen of Tennessee; sister, Nancy (Dennis) Luna of Winnebago; mother-in-law, Marguerite McCornock of Rockford; sister-in-law, Linda Conrad of Winnebago; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; father-in-law, William McCornock; sister-in-law, Sharon Christen; nephew, Kary Christen; and brother-in-law, Marv Conrad. Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, in Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., with the Rev. Michael Holland, associate pastor of Central Christian Church of Rockford, officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 6, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Oh Terry, I am so sorry, what a loss! We are all out of state on vacation for two weeks and learned of Sue's passing via the internet----what a shock! Daughter Cathy and her family are also on vacation so we won't be able to attend the services. Our thoughts are with you though and will contact you when we get home.
