HAROLD L. 'BUZZ' FRANK, 83 ROCKTON - Harold L. "Buzz" Frank, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008. He had a lengthy battle with heart disease and died from respiratory failure. Born Jan. 23, 1925, in Union Grove, the son of Lorin P. and Frances M. Frank. Harold was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force - European, African, Middle Eastern Theater - M.P. Units 677, 1195 and 984. Member of the VFW, American Legion, Experimental Aircraft Assoc., Teamsters Local 325 and 529, treasurer of Chapter 431 EAA Brodhead, president of Rockford Volleyball Assoc., and served four years on the Rockton Planning Commission. He led a full life from managing the Rainbow Roller Rink in Beloit, Wis. back in 1946, to working at Omar Bakery, Tropic Juice, Colonial Bakery in Rockford, where he was a union steward for 12 years, and Pearl Lake RV sales for many years. He was an avid pilot and loved to build airplanes and spend time with co-pilot and friend, Jeff Fink. He also loved gardening, reading and relaxing with his cat, Tigger. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia; son, Lorin (Nancy) Frank; daughters, Teri (Tom) McKnight and Tina (Jill Gack) Frank; grandchildren, Dane and Garrett Frank, Matt and Katie McKnight; many nieces; nephews; and cousins. Predeceased by parents; sister, Eleanor Huss; and brother, Gene Frank. A very special thank- you goes out to Dr. Kenneth Gold for his 26 years of care! Thank-you also goes out to Dr. Leo and the 3rd floor nurses at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Funeral ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, with Pastor Dan Herman officiating. Burial in Floral Lawn Cemetery in South Beloit. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the funeral home.
