My Uncle Wayne was truly one of the good guys. I will never forget his warm and gentle smile. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss, the Toefer Family. Wayne was such a great guy and I, as well as other coworkers, just found out of this heartbreaking news. Til this day, every time I work (Stateline Family YMCA) I would look at the clock and door when the clock marked around noon. Wayne will always walk in either 20 mins before or 20 mins after. He would always be so friendly and greet us with such a great big smile! I will sure miss him coming in, caring about my little guy that is 7 months. He made sure to be here the day of my return from maternity leave. The skies above sure got a great guy. Lots of love to his family, from his friends at the Roscoe Stateline Family YMCA.

I spent a lot of time with my dad, we worked together for 20 years. People would say that must suck, working with your dad, I would say no, I loved working with him. He taught me everything I know. Electronics, fixing cars, construction projects around the house, he did everything himself. He was the smartest guy, and I loved learning. If anyone needed help, he was always there, anytime you called. He lived the golden rule, and taught us the same. He was my hero. He was my dad. See ya later pop.

We lived by the Toepfer's in the late 6o's and 70's on Colorado Ave in Rockford. Our children went to school together. They were wonderful neighbors. My deepest sympathy to all of the children.

What a wonderful friend I have had in Wayne; I shall miss him sitting by the patio window, working one of his many puzzles... feeding his squirrels... making sure the birds had seed and water... deciding what to serve on Sunday when the family would come for lunch and a football game...
We were all fortunate to have had Wayne somewhere in our lives and a part of someone's' extended family. My own grandchildren thought him a very special "grampa" and send good memories to Wayne's family from Gurnee, Milwaukee and Denver.
