David Park Obituary

GRANVILLE, N.Y. - David Leon Park passed away on April 5, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont.

Dave was born on July 1, 1939, in Wells, Vermont, the son of Stuart and Laura (McClure) Park.

For many years, Dave was employed in machine maintenance at J&L in Springfield, Vermont. He was also employed at Norton Sealants from where he retired. After his retirement, he was the bar manager of the VFW bar. Parksie was an Air Force veteran and served in the Korean conflict. He was a life member of the Falvey Fringi VFW #1653 in Granville, and a former member of the American Legion in Granville and transferred membership to Kissimmee, Florida, where he spent winters. Dave enjoyed fishing. He was a football fan, an avid Red Sox fan and also an auto racing enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Theron "Tindy" Park and Tindy's wife Elaine, as well as his sister, Nancy Kelly, and his brother, Jerry Park. Survivors are his son, Michael Park of Walpole, New Hampshire, and his son, David. Parksie also is survived by one grandson and 11 nieces and nephews. In particular, he is survived by his nephew, Jimmy, with whom he shared a very special relationship. In his extended family, he also enjoyed time spent with his great-niece and -nephew, Jacob David and Chelsea.

A funeral service will be held at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y., on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at noon. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral, David will be cremated. His cremains will be interred in Wells Cemetery with military honors at a date to be announced.
