Ronald Hance Obituary
In 1966, he began his career at General Electric in Ludlow where he became active in the GE Credit Union (now Heritage Family Credit Union). He took over as president of the credit union in 1978. Under his leadership, with the assistance of the management team and the board, business prospered. Membership grew, new buildings were constructed and branch offices opened throughout Vermont. He retired after 36 years of service.
He was a board member on the World Council of Credit Unions, National Credit Union Association, Vermont Credit Union League, Rutland Regional Medical Center and the College of Saint Joseph. The Rutland Chamber of Commerce named him business person of the year in 2012.
He is survived by his widow, Marsha (Janosz) Hance of Rutland Town; his daughters Kristin Martelle (Randy) and Andrea Hance; sister-in-law Sandra Hance; his first wife, Dawn (Dashner) Hance, all of Rutland; and four nephews. He was the proud grandfather of Lindsay Martelle of Quincy, Mass., and Aimee Martelle of Plymouth, Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Harold Hance; sister, Patricia Crossman; and golden retriever, Willow.

Very sad to learn of Ron's passing. Ron was one of the first credit union professionals I had the opportunity to work with. Ron and his family took me into their home on several occasions when I was working in New England. My prayers for comfort go out to Kris, Andrea, and Ron's entire family.

I was so saddened to hear about Ronnie. We attended school together since Lincoln elementary, and up to RHS, class of 1962. I loved his sense of humor......he had us laughing often !!! How very sad yet meaningful that Ron was taken from us during the Christmas season. Driving to work this morning I was singing along to the Christmas songs when the one song that always reminded me of Ron began at the exact same moment that I read the license plate on the car in front of me that ended with RH. For a few moments, Ron was with us again signing along joyfully as he so loved to do. If we can find any comfort during this sad time it is in knowing that Ron is now sleeping in heavenly peace. For me, Ron will forever be linked to this happy time with memories of him singing the Christmas Carols he loved in full, happy voice. Sleep in heavenly peace Ron.
