John Cross Obituary

TICONDEROGA - John B. Cross, 67, of Ticonderoga, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at his home.

Born April 24, 1947, in Ticonderoga, he is the son of the late Calvin W. Cross Sr. and Cecile (Allen) Cross of Ticonderoga, who survives him.

Mr. Cross was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and a 1965 graduate of Ticonderoga High School.

He was employed as a Machineability Specialist for General Electric for 45 years, beginning his career in Burlington, Vt., and the last 10 years in Rutland, Vt.

John was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting at his camp - The 2 J's Hunting Camp in Santa Clara, N.Y., which was his favorite place on Earth.

John was a videographer who recorded many local community events, including Junior Miss, Dance Recitals and Nursery School graduations.

His greatest joy was his family.

Survivors in addition to his mother, Cecile Cross of Ticonderoga; include his wife of 44 years, Marjorie L. (Grinnell) Cross; his three children, Tracey Cross-Baker and her husband, Stuart, of Ticonderoga, Jennifer Connery and her husband, Shawn, of Sewell, N.J., and Stephen Cross and his companion, Kaleigh, of Liverpool; and his two brothers, Calvin Cross Jr. and Timothy Cross, both of Ticonderoga. Also, he is survived by his three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m., Thursday evening, at the funeral home. The Rev. Scott R. Tyler, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

Donations in Mr. Cross' memory may be made to the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 265, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

John and I were fellow apprentices at GE in Schenectady and Burlington. I remember his quiet, steadfast demeanor and willingness to help when needed. My family and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to John's family in their loss.
