Rita Hier Obituary
Rita was born on January 29, 1936 in Pawlet, VT, the daughter of James and Lovica (Rivers) Burke.
She worked for over 25 years at Killington Resort Lodge in Killington.
She was a housewife and wonderful mother to five boys, Daniel Rabtoy and Kenneth Rabtoy, both of Rutland, Christopher Rabtoy of Wallingford, Henry Rabtoy and wife Marlene of Clarendon and Victor Rabtoy of Rutland.
Rita is also survived by her significant other Louis Cendrowski of Rutland, her siblings, James Burke of Pittsford, William Burke of Wells, Raymond Burke of Rutland, Thomas Burke of Milton, Wayne Burke of Barre, Beatrice Shaw of Clarendon, Judith Burke of Mt. Holly, Jeannie Hier of Fair Haven, Louis Burke of Rutland and Margarette Grenier of Mt. Holly; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Daniel R. Hier, brothers Robert Donald Burke, Richard Burke, Robert Arnold Burke and Frank Burke; and sisters Nancy, Shirley and Rosemary Burke.
Rita's love of life was emulated to everyone she met. She believed in a strong work ethic and passed this on to her children. She will be sadly missed, but she will never be forgotten.
A time to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Rita's memory to Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
