Katharina Yonamine

Katharina "Kathe" Yonamine (nee Kaus), 90, died peacefully March 6, 2013 at her home in Chico, CA. Kathe was born April 15, 1922 in Langenselbold, Germany, to Jean and Mina Kaus (nee Spindler). Kathe, working as a German civilian employee for the U.S. Army, met Shinsei, a Private, while he was stationed near her home town. They were married on September 27, 1952 in Langenselbold, Germany and remained there until 1953 when new military orders brought them to Sacramento, CA. It was here that Kathe began her life as an American wife, mother and professional. Kathe had a 30 year career with the Blue Diamond Almond Growers and was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She lived a full and interesting life, was a good wife and mother, and was loved by her family and friends. Kathe is survived by her spouse, Shinsei Yonamine of Chico, CA; daughter, JoAnne Yonamine of Chico, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Amanda Yonamine of Fair Oaks, CA; a niece, Irene Reuther, and two nephews, Norbert and Reinhard Junker, all of Langenselbold, Germany. Kathe was preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Erna Junker, also of Langenselbold, Germany. Arrangements were entrusted to Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes, 680 Camilla Way, Chico, CA and Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA.
