Dennis Wells Obituary

Our beloved father "Papa" departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Born January 4, 1937 in Dallas, Texas (the youngest of eight children) to Adolphus Wells and Mabel (Tannehill) Wells. Survived by his wife Oralia Benitez Wells, ex-wife Ollie Jean Kinsey, and nine children - Dennis Wells II, Greggory Wells (Antranettda), Ruth Blankenship (David), Oralia Cooper (Earl), Newton Wells, Hadassah Wells, Dennis Bruce Wells III (Bathsheba), Paul Wells (Nineveh) and Rachel Golston (Kenya), sister, Laura Houston, brother, Julius C. Wells, 32 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. After graduating from Grant High School in 1955, he decided to serve his country by joining the Navy and proceeded to work as an electrical engineer working on aircraft and on aircraft carriers. Papa was known by all for his tremendous love for The Lord, his ability to love with all of heart, his kind generosity, and his strong desire to help those in need. He would go around town seeking out the needy and would pass out bills to them without question. Papa would literally give someone the shirt off of his back if they asked for it. Memorial services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, Thompson Rose Funeral Home. Private Burial immediately following. We hope to make this a joyful celebration of a great man who left a great legacy on this earth! A wonderful way to honor his memory would be to help out someone who is in need, without question or judgement.

Hey, Papa, I know and remember how close you were to God and unfortunately, I can't feel the same way anymore. I continue to wonder whether you were as right about the reality of God as you were sure of it. I don't know anymore. I hope God is real and I hope that despite my doubts he'll treat me as one of his own when I reach him because then I could talk to you once again. Life hasn't turned out nearly like I'd expect it to and although it would probably annoy me, I wonder what you'd have to say to me to advice me now. I still think about you and I doubt i'll ever forget about you or how it felt to learn from you. I believe that it's because of that I stay so eager and true to my curiosity of the world and all things within. I haven't read in a long time and I know I should be so maybe i'll start again. I'll always be happy to say that you shaped a big part of who I am today, thank you for that. Anyways hopefully life will get better sometime soon and I'll share with you how well I am doing, hopefully I'll see you again Papa.

Sincerely,
Me

Dearest Papa,

I'm writing to you to hopefully get some strength because you were very good at providing this when you were here. I miss you dreadfully. You were my greatest friend. I've really been suffering a lot since I lost you. If you are still praying for us, please pray for my kids and me. I can't wait to see you again.

Love,

Hi Papa,
I'm writing you in the hopes of gaining some strength because I've really been going through a rough time since I lost you. I miss you dreadfully, and had I known how things would have turned out, I would have stuck by your side day and night. If you are still praying for us, please pray for me and my kids.

Sincerely,

Your kid

Hello Papa, it's me again. I'm pretty sure that no one will be seeing these anymore. I have been living a life that isn't too bad. I remember when I was younger and you'd always tell me stories from the Bible. I still miss you and will never forget you. I don't know why but you popped up in my mind today so I've decided to write you here and now. I know ( or at least believe) that you will receive this, maybe even if you can't access the Internet from where you are right now. I love you. I thank you for everything you've ever taught me and I will never let it stray too far from my mind. Maybe I'll write you again sometime. Goodbye :)

Sincerely,
Me

We remember Dennis and his brothers and sisters and we're fond of them all. He would help our mom (Gus) with odd jobs around her house on 12th ave. She left us in 2011. We send our deepest condolences to all his family and we're sorry we didn't learn of Dennis' death sooner. Sincerely, Linda and Cecilia Newfield

Papa I miss you so much, I wish we had more time together but I'm so glad we talked and you told me that you were like a book of knowledge and that we should hang with you. I'm sad but it brings joy knowing that you're with The Lord.. I love you Pop
