Jeffrey Rogers Obituary

Jeffrey Charles (aka Mitch) Rogers passed away at home, with his family by his side, on January 29, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Jeff was born on December 4, 1958, in Peoria, IL, to John Walter and Jo Anne (Vaughn) Rogers. His family later relocated to Kirkwood, MO. On September 25, 1972, Jeff was presented the Eagle Scout award by the Boy Scouts of America. During high school, Jeff lettered in basketball and football, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1977. While attending the University of Tulsa, Jeff joined Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, was on the President's Honor Roll and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in July 1980. Jeff earned his Masters in Business Administration and Finance from Washington University, St. Louis, MO, in May 1982, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Jeff began his career in 1982 as a Senior Accountant with Peat, Marwick (currently KPMG) in Denver, CO. In 1985, he joined The Money Store in San Diego, CA as a Vice President and later transferred to their headquarters in Sacramento as Director of Investment Relations. A highlight of Jeff's career was standing on the podium for the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange the first day The Money Store was publicly traded. Shortly after moving to Sacramento, Jeff met Nancy Lolmaugh. They married August 26, 1995. Twin daughters, Chloe and Claire, were born two years later. In 1998, Jeff joined Perry-Smith LLP as a Management Consultant, specializing in Litigation Support and Valuation Services for attorneys and businesses throughout Northern California. In 1999, he was promoted to Partner and later became a member of the Firm's Executive Committee. Jeff, the consummate professional, utilized his technical expertise, leadership skills and business acumen which greatly contributed to the Firm's rapidly expanding practice. Jeff was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and past member of Fundamentals in Business Valuation Task Force and ABV Examination Review Task Force. He was also Accredited in Business Valuation, Certified in Financial Forensics and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Jeff believed in giving back to his community and did so in numerous ways. He was a member of Sacramento Rotary Club and sat on the Board of Directors of the B Street Theater. Jeff served as Treasurer of the Sacramento Valley Conservancy. He was a member of the Sutter Club and served as Club President in 2010. Jeff was a lifelong, diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also passionate about the El Camino High School band program, of which his daughters are members. Watching the Pep Band in action at Friday night football games gave him great joy. Family and friends will remember Jeff for his strength of character, his intellect, his kindness, his humor, and a smile that would light up a room. Jeff was a true man of God who shared his faith with all he met. He was a member and Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church and later joined the Fremont Presbyterian Church family. He was a member of the Carmichael Bible Buds and cherished time spent studying God's Word with dear friends and fellow Christians. Preceded in death by his parents, Jeff is survived by wife Nancy, twin daughters Chloe and Claire, sister Christine (Charlie) Eaton, of Seattle, WA, brother Drew (Beth) Rogers of Palos Verdes, CA, mother-in-law Joyce Lolmaugh, sisters-in-law Evelyn (Brad) Allis, Kathryn Lolmaugh and Lois (Mark) Cameron and brother-in-law Michael Service, many nephews and nieces, and his lifelong friend Scott (Cindy) Andrews of The Woodlands, TX. While I never formally met Jeffrey, my son is also in the El Camino HS band, and I would see him sitting with his family in the stands at many of the football games, supporting the band and his daughters. My heart goes out to the family, he will be missed by the ECHS band families.

I didn't know Jeff well, but knew his legacy at the Money Store. Having lost family members, I know how difficulte this time is for the family. Take comfort knowing that he is at peace now living with our Father in His heavenly kingdom.
