Moses Jardin Obituary

1923 - 2011
Moses F. Jardin, Jr., 87, of Rancho Cordova, CA., died April 2nd after suffering a major heart attack. "Moe" was born in Stoughton, MA in 1923. He is survived by his sons, Moses and his wife, Stacy, and Lee and his wife, Ann, all of CA, brother Frank of Easton, MA, and sisters Lourdes of Connecticut, Mary of Stoughton, MA, Isabelle of Plymouth, MA, numerous nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends. He was the loving husband of his late wife, Bonnie, and the son of the late Moses and Isabel Jardin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William, October 2010, and Anthony, December 2010.

He was educated in Stoughton, learning how to box, play soccer, and his original passion, dancing to the big bands of the day, winning many dance contests. Moe joined the United States Navy in 1942 during World War II, and was assigned to LST 374 which saw action in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and also participating in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. During one air raid, while manning the 20MM gun, he was wounded in the leg, receiving shrapnel he carried with him for the remainder of his life.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy he decided that he wanted to make the military his career and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he played a part in the Berlin Airlift in the late 1940's, and the Korean War in the early 1950's. After that, he was stationed in many places, including Greenland, Japan and a number of bases in the United States, retiring at Mather AFB in 1964 as a Master Sergeant, having served his country with pride, dignity and dedication.

Moe was employed at Douglas Aerospace in Rancho Cordova after retiring from the military. When the facility closed, he worked at a variety of jobs, ending with a permanent position at the Mather AFB Commissary where he enjoyed his work and the many people he met.

Moe was an avid collector of sports memorabilia, stamps, coins, soda and beer cans, casino cards and his favorite, Motel 6 cards, which gave him the opportunity to continue traveling the country visiting his family and many friends. He was also a sports fan and he enjoyed gardening.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Moe, I will our phone chats where we solved the country's problems in a matter of 30 minutes. I really enjoyed those conversationss and looked forward to the next call.
You, Tony and Bally were my early mentors who offered me sage advice and guidance to help and assist their kid brother.
You lived life on your terms and did it your way. That's a tribute to you and your family and you did it right to the end.
God love you and keep you in His heart, as I do, and rest in the peace you so richly deserve.
Brother Frank

Moses F Jardin Jr.
I want to say something about our dear friend: Moe. We met while both Moe & Sal were in the Air Force. My husband met him in Greenland in 1950 and I met him in Newfoundland in 1951. We became friends immediately and it stayed that way all these years till his passing. He loved to travel and collected about anything that was collectable and he was always thankful to his wife for allowing him to do so. When Bonnie had her stroke, he gave all that up to take care of her and in all that time, he never once complained that he couldn't travel anymore as her health was more important to him. I would always tell him that because he took such good care of her that there was a special place in heaven for him. Moe was one of a kind and we will always be thankful for having him as our friend and "Uncle Moe" to our son.
Goodbye old friend, enjoy that special place in heaven! We will always love & remember you!

Uncle Moe forever the most colorful character I've ever met. I love that you lived your life on your terms. You always made us laugh. Be at peace with Papa and Uncle Bally as you are now together again, forever. You will be missed.

Moses,I will always love you and miss you dearly. I regret the fact that I did not have the opportunity to spend as much time with you growing up as I would have liked. Grama and Grampa had your picture hanging in their living room along with Bally, Tony and Frankie..and they were always so proud of that picture...Love your neice Diane

Dad, I'll miss you the rest of my life. The values, the knowledge and the basic decency that you lived your life by will always stay with me. You were always the light that pointed the direction towards the correct path. Even at 87, you were gone too quick with much wisdom to share. I love you and mom more than I can even imagine. It's heartening to see the hearts and minds you've touched. You’ve left a lot of us bleary eyed but such was your gift left in the folks you touched.

I'll see you again, soon. But not too soon.

I'm sure God has you organizing things up in the great reward. I pray you and mom are together on the greatest adventure ever.
Love Lee & Anne.

Hey Moe! It's Gunnason (Gunderson)! I'll always remember the values that you taught me while at Mather Commissary. I still look at cans and think about what value they may hold! I know that you're having fun upstairs! You'll always have a place in my heart. Rest in peace.
