Ronald Barnes Obituary

1949 - 2011
Ronald Lee Barnes, 61, passed away from a respitory illness on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home on Roanoke Ave in Sacramento, CA.

Ronald was born in Cookeville, Tennessee on December 19, 1949. Son of the late Earl Barnes and late Nila Ann (Cisco) Barnes, he was preceded in death by one brother Thurman Barnes and one sister Kathy Bloomfield.

Ronald is survived by his Beloved Partner Leslie Pysell.
Ronald is also survived by one brother, two sisters, and their families: James Barnes of Michigan, his wife Janice, and their daughters Bethany, Angela, and Melanie; Anna Lou Sherrel of Michigan, her husband Jerry, and their son Brian; and, Donna McCurdy of Ohio, her husband Tom, and their children Ben, April, and Samantha. Additionally, Ronald is survived by his niece Marty Hamernik and his nephew Bill Fisher, children of the late Kathy Bloomfield, as well as Ronald's nephew Mike Barnes, son of the late Thurman Barnes, in addition to many loved great nieces and great nephews.

Ronald attended Tennessee School for the Deaf before attending Ohio School for the Deaf where he graduated in 1969. He worked over a decade for a private insurance company in San Francisco, CA. He was a member of Northern California Association of the Deaf-Blind (NCADB) for many years. He was elected to the NCADB Board and was also named NCADB's 50th Anniversary Chairperson for its 2013 celebration. He resigned his position due to his illness. He was a huge fan of NFL San Francisco 49ERS and MLB San Francisco Giants. He enjoyed so many activities in his life!

Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service from 1pm to 4pm on December 17th by Pastor Chester Brock at Sacramento Bible Church for the Deaf located at 5619 Marconi Ave, Carmichael, CA 95608. An additional memorial service will be arranged in 2012 in Ohio with his families and relatives. Ronald's ashes will eventually be buried with Leslie Pysell in Grafton, West Virginia at Bluemont Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Ronald to the Northern California Association of the Deaf-Blind for its 50th Anniversary Fund. Donations can be sent to NCADB, P.O. Box 55670, Hayward, CA 94545.

Ron was a dear friend of mine for around 25 years. My daughter saw him as an uncle; we all miss him very much and love him dearly we will never forget the wonderful man we got to know and love. We will cherish our moments with him forever.

Nick had known Ron Barnes for so long time~both worked together in NCADB (Northern California Assoc of Deaf-Blind). Mary had known Ron Barnes for 10 years through NCADB. She and Ron were in committees in NCADB. We both love and miss Ron, and we share love and prayers to his partner, Leslie and Ron's family!
