Shelley Rauzy Obituary

Shelley Rauzy
February 3, 1943 - December 21, 2020
Sacramento, California - Shelley grew up in East Sacramento and attended David Lubin, Kit Carson, SHS, and City College. After college she went to work for West Coast S&L in the Real Estate Owned Dept. Many of her co-workers became lifelong friends and came to be our real estate gurus.
As a mother to Kelly and Jennifer she was involved in all on the motherly activities of the day, Blue Birds, soccer, PTA and even taking the kids on some wonderful summer vacations when Jim was unable to join them.
Her hobbies were many. She was an avid reader all her life, many times reading more than 30 books a year. She helped form a book club, early on, that agreed to meet at her house for all meetings after she was confined to a wheelchair just so she could partake.
Another one of her interests was sewing and in particular making hand sewn Christmas stockings. The detail on these stockings was intricate and the feedback from people who bought them on Ebay was amazing. She received letters, emails and pictures praising her work which brought her much satisfaction and pride. Another hobby of hers was decorating the house for every significant holiday of the year. Her Eddie Walker Christmas ornament collection grew to being bigger that an 8' tree could handle. We used to tease her that the only day she didn't have decorations for was Groundhog's Day and her retort was "I'm working on it". Shelley loved to travel and those travels took her to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and almost all of the states.
She has had a love of playing bridge from an early age and has been in several bridge groups but the one that must be mentioned is The Dragon Ladies. All four ladies grew up together and went to SHS where the mascot was a dragon. One may question how much bridge was played because knowing each other for more than 70 years is cause for many stories to be brought up and the resultant laughter to go with them. One thing is for certain these ladies truly enjoyed each other's company and bridge was a secondary issue.
Shelley had another love in her life and his name is Snooky. On those rare days when the dialysis and the wheelchair dampened he spirits her Snooky could sense it and he would hop up onto her lap, curl up, and purr. This always brought a smile to her face and was better than anything a doctor could prescribe. We owe a debt of gratitude to Happy Tails, where he was adopted, and a kitty named Snooky
Per her request, her ashes will be spread at Mt. Washington, NH. She fell in love with the beauty and serenity of this site 40 years ago on her first visit and has never let us forget that this is what she wanted.
She leaves behind Jim, her husband of 56 years, daughter Jennifer Rauzy, brother Jeff Egeberg and his wife Donna of Tiburon and their two children Christopher and Channing. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kelly..
In light of COVID-19 no services will be held.
