I have many fond memories of Zane. One I will never forget is when a group of us traveled to Rosarita, Mexico to build a small home for a family, as part of an eagle scout project for my son Chris. Zane was a great person.

Zane and I attended high school together. He always seemed to sit behind me in English class. All four years! He had a quiet way of making himself and his ideas heard. Seems he continued that way thru out his life. My deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and your family.

I remember going to Scouts with Ari and seeing him on many occasions. He reached out to me as being Jerrel's little brother and I've never forgotten that and never will. I am heartbroken at his passing and give my deepest condolences.

Dear Cathy and family,
Upon hearing of Zane's passing we send our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. In keeping up with your family through Andrew I know of no other who is a more unified family and example of good.

Dear Cathy and family,
We're so sad to hear of Bro. Shaeffer's passing. He is such a good man, and I have sweet memories of coming to your house and feeling comfortable there, appreciating the way your family operated. In so many ways I've admired your fun, loving and sincere example as a couple, and still do. I remember coming to trick or treat at your house, and Bro. Shaeffer making us laugh - mostly he paid attention and was kind and patient with us as kids, when he didn't have to be. I'm so thankful for the good man that he was. Zane was a great outdoorsman and a good dad. I spent many hours with him on scout trips with our boys. I will always remember and miss him.

Your family was the first family to greet us when we moved into the Ward. Zane put his arm around Matt, introduced him to Adam and Zack, and welcomed him to the Ward and then quickly took him to the Penryn Stake Dance with them. We will always remember with great love and appreciation such a warm, welcoming, and loving man and his amazing smile. Our hearts go out to you all at this difficult time. Dear Cathy & family,
I have very fond memories of your family that include Zane and "little Zane" as my home teachers. I observed a loving father share wonderful priesthood guidance to a young son. Zane always looked for ways to provide service. He commented to me, "If nothing else, let us at least install a doorbell for you." He did do a great job repairing my fence one time. He so quickly and capably responded when I had the need for assistance.
You are a beautiful family and will carry on a great legacy through his name. May you feel the Savior's love and comfort now and always.

Dear Shaeffer Family,
We love you and we surely loved your wonderful Dad! He was our Home Teacher in the Granite Bay 3rd Ward and faithfully visited us each month, always prepared with a great message to share! He never missed sending a birthday card and we knew he loved our family. You were also one of our "Couple's Heroes"! Zane loved and adored Cathy and his kids - and you knew it from the minute you met him! Zane was a great example of love and service, kindness and compassion - He will be truly missed but forever remembered with fondness and appreciation!

I worked for Zane as a sub contractor for many years, and have never met a more honest and trusted contractor or individual for that matter. He was always eager to help others in any way he could. I loved Zane He was an example to me in all aspects of his life. I am saddened by his early trip home but am sure that he will be welcomed by the Saviours loving embrace.
