In Sacramento October 26, 2010. Age 46. Born in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain in November 1963. Survived by her husband Eric Pierce, children Oriol, Mireia and Gemma Pierce-Pique; sister Lourdes Pique, brother Jordi Pique, mother Maria Lluisa Carreras Marti. A career counselor. Marta, your beautiful, sensitive, caring soul will always inspire our hearts. Your family and friends will always love you, and we will be with you again in the eternal realm of Light and Love. Requim Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Sat Oct 30 at 10am. Burial and reception to follow at Sunset Lawn. Donations to St. Vincent De Paul Food Locker.

I met Marta in 1996 while we worked at La Familia Counseling Center and most recentyly we worked together for DHA/Sac County. I remember when you were pregnant with your first child and how we would run into each other grocery shopping at Trader Joes. Tu eres una angel en el reino del nuestro senor. My prayers are with your family.

Ahir a Barcelona a l'església de Sant Ildefons, del barri on vivies amb els teus pares quan eres jove, es va fer una celebració perquè les persones que et coneixíem i t'estimàvem poguéssim trobar alguna manera d'expressar-ho. Els fills d'en Jordi i la Laia (els teus nebots), i la Lourdes, la teva germana, van intervenir en la cerimònia i et puc dir que ens van emocionar. Van parlar de tu, de com eres, de com et dedicaves als altres... i et ben asseguro que van encertar. Bé Marta, com sempre i ara encara més llunys que abans, em continuaràs fent companyia. No sé prou anglès per expressar els meus sentiments, per això ho he fet català. Sempre recordaré l'estiu que vaig venir a Califòrnia quan l'Oriol era molt petit. God's compassion stretched wide and gave us someone remarkable...Marta.
Marta approached her personal and professional life with EXCELLENCE. She was dedicated and committed to her family and friends and to helping her clients find their way.
Marta's actions modeled her values and her faith. Her spirit and memory will be cherished forever by her family, her friends, her DHA family and her colleagues.
God gave us hope beyond this life for an eternal reunion and a life everlasting. On this side we weep for our separation from our loved-one, but one day we will be together again.

Marta, we worked together for three years, and I truly believe that you helped me to be come a better VAC, a better counselor, a better person by showing me how it should be done. You were my friend, my partner, my guide, and I miss you every day. Fulton will never ever be the same, but it is a better place because you were there. I will always remember your smiles, your advice, and above all, you.

We met for some years working together in Catalonia. All friend from those years remember Marta in the same way. Always a smile, even in the difficult moments, and always helping, specially in the difficult moments. She had the good inside. My deepest condolences to the family.

I met Marta while working for Sacramento County. She was always willing to help despite her very busy schedule. I will remember her with a smile because that is what she brought on people who were around her. God has called an angel to heaven. My prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Acabo d'assebentar-me pel facebook de tan trista noticia. Vaig conèixer la Marta l'any 1983 i vam compartir aventures de joventut uns anys a l'Esplai Turons. Ara feia molts anys que no sabia d'ella però aquesta noticia m'ha entristit molt. Descansi en pau aquesta gran persona.
I met Marta in 1983, we shared some years of our youth at Esplai Turons. It's been long time not hearing from her. This news today have been a terrible shock for me. She was a great person, God bless her.

Eric, Oriol, Mireia i Gemma. You know that Marta was a nice friend of us since our childhood in Catalonia. We've shared lovely times that now we remember with deep sadness. She had always been true to her ideas making a better world, and this will be our happy memory of our friedship.

I am so very sorry for your loss! Words can not express my deepest sympathy. I know that at this moment her loss is insurmountable. I hope it brings some solace in the future to remember and know that Marta, your mother, wife, daughter, sister, was and will continue to be a source of inspiration for all whose lives she touched. She truly did her part in making this world a better place. She will continue to live thru you, her children, for you are the greatest testament of her legacy.
